Our History: From Local Beginnings to Regional Leaders
Establishing Jayell Ford in Kyabram (1985-1996)
Established in September 1985 by John and Jan McIlroy, Value Auto Group began as Jayell Investments Pty Ltd, initially acquiring the Ford dealership in Kyabram, previously known as Peter Lyon Motors. In 1987, it was renamed Jayell Ford, inspired by John and Jan's shared middle initial "L". To accommodate rapid growth, the company acquired land in Bradley Street, Kyabram, unveiling a state-of-the-art dealership in March 1996. That same year, Ashley McIlroy began his automotive career in spare parts at Jayell Ford.
Expanding to Benalla and Wangaratta (1997-2004)
Expansion into Benalla occurred in February 1997 with Delatite Ford, strategically located at Sydney Road and Yellow Brick Road. Success led to constructing a larger, modern dealership facility, officially opened in June 2004. Further regional expansion came with the acquisition of Heffernan Ford in Wangaratta in October 2004, subsequently rebranded as Ovens Ford.
Toyota and Kia Join the Value Auto Group (2014-2017)
In 2014, Value Auto Group broadened its automotive portfolio by acquiring Toyota dealerships in Benalla and Mansfield, integrating Benalla Toyota and Delatite Ford into a single site in 2016. 2017 marked the addition of Kia to our dealership family, opening Ovens Kia in a newly constructed showroom beside Ovens Ford.
Yarrawonga Expansion & Continued Growth (2019-Present)
Ashley McIlroy took ownership from John and Jan McIlroy in 2019, steering significant growth through strong team leadership and customer-focused initiatives. In 2022, Yarrawonga Ford joined the Value Auto Group, reinstating Ford sales and service to Yarrawonga Mulwala. The dealership swiftly established itself as a trusted provider of new Ford vehicles, achieving record sales for popular models like the Ford Ranger and Everest, and offering the eagerly anticipated F Series Trucks.
In 2023, Value Auto Group joined the Jacob Group of Companies, expanding our resources and capabilities while continuing our commitment to excellent service and community support. Today, Value Auto Group proudly serves regional Victoria, delivering exceptional customer experiences across all locations.
